Details

A spectacular visual encounter where early 17th-century European botanical scholarship is masterfully enveloped by the lush textile motifs of late 19th-century English design.

The artwork features a meticulously hand-aged reproduction from Basilius Besler’s legendary Hortus Eystettensis (1613), the monumental florilegium commissioned by the Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt to record the botanical wonders of his gardens. This elegant composition balances three beautifully observed specimens: the striking, structural Eryngium marinum (Sea Holly) at the center, flanked by Helianthemum flore luteo (yellow rock-rose) on the left and Helianthemum flore albo (white rock-rose) on the right. Through a delicate, proprietary aging process, the paper acquires a warm, amber-toned historical depth. Elevating this piece into a truly dimensional art object, both the custom internal passepartout and the entire outer frame have been fully wrapped by hand in coordinating original William Morris patterns. This total immersion of pattern delivers a mesmerizing tridimensional presence—a brilliant example of "Everyday Poetry" perfect for layering texture and intellectual narrative onto a luxury eclectic wall.

Technical Details & Condition:

  • Estimated Period: Modern reproduction expertly hand-aged, fully wrapped, and assembled by Atelier Bellinzona (2026). Original plate by Basilius Besler (c. 1613).

  • Origin: Italy (Artisanal framing and textile processing).

  • Material: Aged paper print, original William Morris patterned papers for the fully wrapped frame and mount, protective glass.

  • Dimensions: 32.5 x 42.5 cm.

  • Condition: Excellent contemporary condition. The print is artistically patinated and distressed by hand to mimic the fine oxidation and character of an original Baroque engraving. As an entirely handmade creation featuring an intricate paper-wrapping process on both frame and mount, minor asymmetries or textile alignment irregularities are considered signature hallmarks of its unique, non-industrial luxury prestige.
