White OpalineLate 19th Century White Opaline Lamp by R. Ditmar Vienna (c. 1880/90) | French Vintage Plissé Shade
Quality & Authenticity Note
Details
An exceptional marriage of Viennese engineering and French textile elegance. This table lamp features a sculptural base in white opaline glass, originally crafted as a luxury oil lamp in the late 19th century.
The historical heart of this piece is the original burner, which bears the prestigious six-pointed star logo of Rudolf Ditmar (Vienna). Founded in 1841, Ditmar was the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end lighting, and this signed burner identifies the lamp as a masterpiece of Austrian craftsmanship from the 1880s.
The lamp is crowned by a handcrafted plissé shade made from original vintage French fabric, featuring a vibrant red floral motif. The contrast between the milky transparency of the antique Viennese glass and the bold chromatic energy of the shade creates a sophisticated balance, suitable for both classical and contemporary interiors.
