Set of 8 Antique S.C. Richard "Landscape" Transferware Plates (Late 19th Century)
Quality & Authenticity Note
Details
A dive into the romantic elegance of the late 19th century. This refined set of plates bears the historic signature of the Società Ceramica Richard (S.C.R.) in Milan, crafted before their famous 1896 merger to become Richard-Ginori. While the manufacture is proudly Italian, the decor pays a beautiful homage to the great tradition of English transferware. The pattern, appropriately named "Landscape", is a triumph of visual poetry printed in a sophisticated monochrome black and white. The center of each plate opens up to a bucolic scene rich in details: figures in period clothing strolling in a lush park, framed by imposing trees and classical architecture in the background. Enclosing this picture is a brim sumptuously decorated with intricate floral motifs, vine tendrils, and neo-Gothic geometries. Crafted from high-quality earthenware (terraglia forte), these plates are not just tableware, but true fragments of European design history, perfect for adding a touch of timeless narrative to your table.
