Details

A serene and deeply poetic celebration of Baroque naturalism entwined with the fluid geometries of 19th-century Arts & Crafts design, this curated statement piece brings an organic, textural elegance to sophisticated walls.

The artwork features a masterfully hand-aged reproduction from Basilius Besler’s monumental Hortus Eystettensis (1613), the historic florilegium created to record the Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt's magnificent gardens. The composition focuses entirely on the stately presence of the Alcca Syriaca flore candido (known today as Hibiscus syriacus or white Syrian hibiscus), capturing its lush foliage, unfolding buds, and striking white blossoms with their deep crimson centers. Through a delicate antiquing process, the paper surface takes on a warm, amber-toned historical depth. What makes this piece an extraordinary decorative asset is the meticulous, total textile wrapping: both the interior custom passepartout and the entire outer frame are covered by hand in a refined William Morris foliage pattern. This continuous flow of organic design delivers a captivating tridimensional depth, making it a piece of "Everyday Poetry" perfect for an elegant study, entryway, or eclectic living space.

Technical Details & Condition:

  • Estimated Period: Modern reproduction expertly hand-aged, fully wrapped, and assembled by Atelier Bellinzona (2026). Original plate by Basilius Besler (c. 1613).

  • Origin: Italy (Artisanal framing and textile processing).

  • Material: Aged paper print, original William Morris archival paper for the fully wrapped frame and mount, protective glass.

  • Dimensions: 32.5 x 42.5 cm.

  • Condition: Excellent contemporary condition. The print is artistically patinated and distressed by hand to emulate the fine character and oxidation of an original 17th-century archival engraving. As an entirely handmade creation featuring an intricate paper-wrapping process on both frame and mount, minor asymmetries or textile alignment variations are considered signature hallmarks of its unique, non-industrial luxury prestige.
