Art Deco Sunburst Center Table in Burl Walnut and Mixed Woods (1920s-1930s)
Quality & Authenticity Note
Details
A monumental and highly sophisticated piece of 1920s-1930s design, showcasing the absolute pinnacle of Art Deco cabinet-making and marquetry. This striking center table features a spectacular circular top, masterfully veneered in a "sunburst" radiating pattern. The eye is immediately drawn to the central medallion: an exquisite trompe-l'œil inlay created from contrasting light and dark woods (likely maple and boxwood with an ebony center) that gives the illusion of a three-dimensional fluted dome. The top is supported by an imposing tripartite pedestal base. The three columns are beautifully divided into sections of rich, swirling Burl Walnut and highly textured, ribbed, and painted middle bands, all resting on a solid, architectural ebonized plinth. This table is a true statement piece, perfect as a dramatic entryway center table or an intimate, luxurious dining table for a contemporary or historic home.
