Details

A striking fusion of raw Mediterranean texture and vibrant, artistic glazing. This impressive, large flared terracotta basin—known in Italy as a conca—originates from the Puglia (Apulia) region and dates back to the early 1900s. A vital piece of rural domestic life, it was traditionally used for washing, food preparation, or kneading dough. It presents a magnificent study in contrasts: the exterior is left in its raw, unglazed terracotta state, showcasing the authentic, earthy texture and horizontal throwing lines created by the potter's hands over a century ago. The interior, however, reveals a breathtaking surprise: a creamy white glaze dramatically decorated with an explosion of hand-applied, dripping splatters in vibrant emerald green and deep, iridescent cobalt blue. The bottom of the basin features a stunning pool of these colors, resembling a painter's palette. Today, this generous 40 cm bowl makes an extraordinary, highly decorative centerpiece, perfect for adding authentic Southern Italian flair and a pop of artistic color to a rustic or contemporary home.
