Quality & Authenticity Note

This is a handcrafted or hand-modified piece. The beauty of handmade items lies in their unique character; any minor variations, irregularities, or small imperfections are characteristic of manual craftsmanship and are not to be considered flaws. Instead, they certify the artisanal nature and the absolute uniqueness of the object.

Details

A spectacular study in high-decorative drama and early modern naturalism, this curated statement piece beautifully orchestrates an intense dialogue between early 17th-century botanical precision and the vibrant, layered textiles of late 19th-century English design.

The piece features a masterfully hand-aged reproduction from Basilius Besler’s monumental Hortus Eystettensis (1613), the legendary florilegium created to document the rare botanical treasures of Prince-Bishop Johann Konrad von Gemmingen's gardens at Willibaldsburg Castle. The elegant, balanced composition centers on the delicate, swaying form of Linum sylvestre flore coeruleo (blue wild flax) at the center, flanked on the left by Tragopogon flore luteo (yellow goat's beard) and on the right by Tragopogon purpureum (purple goat's beard), remarkably depicted in both its flowering stage and its delicate, spherical seed head phase. Through an artisanal antiquing process, the paper surface takes on a deep, amber-toned historical depth. Elevating this piece into a major decorative asset, the interior passepartout is hand-wrapped in a radiant golden ornamental pattern, while the entire outer frame is fully covered by hand in a deep bordeaux and vibrant fuchsia William Morris floral motif. This total textile immersion delivers an extraordinary tridimensional presence—a brilliant example of "Everyday Poetry" designed to anchor an eclectic interior with narrative depth and visual warmth.

  • Material: Aged paper print, original William Morris and decorative patterned papers for the fully wrapped frame and mount, protective glass.

  • Dimensions: 32.5 x 42.5 cm.

  • Condition: Excellent contemporary condition. The print is artistically patinated and distressed by hand to mimic the fine oxidation and character of an original Baroque engraving.
