Details

A magnificent celebration of early Baroque botanical splendor woven together with 19th-century English design, this curated statement piece introduces an incredible sense of layers and sophisticated history to contemporary walls.

The artwork features a masterfully hand-aged reproduction from the spring section (Classis Verna) of Basilius Besler’s monumental Hortus Eystettensis (1613), the legendary florilegium commissioned by Prince-Bishop Johann Konrad von Gemmingen for the gardens of Willibaldsburg Castle. The balanced composition features Arum at the center with its sculptural spadix inflorescence and rich red berries, flanked by Arum latifolium on the bottom left, the delicate blue stars of Hyacinthus Stellatus flore coeruleo on the top left, and the graceful Colchicum Vernum (spring meadow saffron) on the right. Through a meticulous hand-patinating process, the paper inherits a warm, amber-toned archival depth. Elevating this piece into a true collectible, both the custom internal passepartout and the entire outer frame have been fully covered by hand in coordinating original William Morris patterns. This total textile immersion creates an extraordinary tridimensional presence—a perfect example of "Everyday Poetry" designed to anchor an eclectic interior.

Technical Details & Condition:

  • Material: Aged paper print, original William Morris patterned papers for the fully wrapped frame and mount, protective glass.

  • Dimensions: 32.5 x 42.5 cm.

  • Condition: Excellent contemporary condition. The print is artistically patinated and distressed by hand to mimic the fine oxidation and character of an original 17th-century engraving.
